Re: Windows 10 upgrades can break boot loaders

Assuming the worst case scenario and Windows 10 has overwritten the DiskCryptor bootloader (or it somehow got damaged). How would the user repair it? By using a boot USB stick with the DC bootloader, that stick is not unique to the system so can be created on any PC with a sufficiently new DC. Alte...

Re: Trust Issues

Its a non profit project so unless a security company will do an audit for free there will be no audit done. As no one offered to audit the code no audit has been done yet. I understand the concerns, and probably the best approach is to diff the code with original DC source to see that all the chang...

Re: Official Performance Expectations?

Hello, There are no changes that should slowdown anything. I would say the best approach would be to do your own tests. It also depends a lot if you using AES on a system that supports AES-IN CPU instructions. My home NAS can reach 2 GB/s throughput in CrystalDiskMark on DC encrypted volumes. Cheers...

Re: Windows 10 upgrades can break boot loaders

Is there a way to code the DiskCryptor boatloader so it never gets overwritten? No. I mean you could develop a custom firmware for your particular ssd, but that's extremely unpractical. A better approach would be to install an internal USB drive that has a read only switch and put the boot loader t...

Re: RAM key encryption

I don't think that would work, I mean the key can be obfuscated somewhat but that is no real security.
I know veracrypt does such a think but as said its no real 100% secure protection just makes h attack a bit harder.
